To play this mod, you will need a legal version of Hearts of Iron 2, Doomsday Armageddon.

I) Get the beta version of the American Civil War mod 

- Download the two files for the latest beta version of the mod 

Those folders are named : NAW mod v0.21 and NAW mod music (the music folder is the same since version 0.2)

Unzip all the folders with winRAR. If you do not have winRAR, download it. You can find it easily on google and for free !





II) Install HoI2 DD-A

- [If you already have HoI2 DD-A on you computer] Uninstall your current version of HoI2 DD-A or any other version to have a clean version of it. Then go to the step [If you do not have HoI2 DD-A on you computer]

- [If you do not have HoI2 DD-A on you computer] Install HoI2 DD-A. 

- Intall the patch 1.2

- Get the patch 1.3 beta 2 (here : http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=402220) and intall it following Coreymas' informations





III) create a new version of the game

This done, you must know that HoI2 was not clearly built with the idea of making mods. So you will have to change important files. You will have to create a second version of your game to be able to play the vanilla game (Paradox Interactive version of the game) and the mod. To do it, do as follow : 

- Go into the folder you used to install your game. If you used the basic installation, this folder is probably here : C:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive with Windows XP or C:\Program Files (x86)\Paradox Interactive with Windows Seven

- There you will find a folder named "Doomsday" (and others if you are used to play to Paradox Interactive games. If so, just focus on the "Doomsday" folder)

- Copy/paste the Hoi2 folder in the "Paradox Interactive" folder. You now have twice the game in your computer.

- Rename the copy folder for HoI2 "The American Civil War mod for HoI2 DD A" (or an other name if you prefer).


IV) mod the game

Go into the main game folder (C:\...\Paradox Interactive\Doomsday North American Wars)

NB : Never simply replace a floder !!! You have to replace only files (if not sid otherwise below) or your game may not work. 

- "config" folder : suppr the folder "config" in the game and put the "config" folder you downloaded for the mod in the game

- "db" folder : suppr the folder "db" in the game and put the "db" folder you downloaded for the mod in the game

- "gfx" folder : click and drag the file "load_1024" ; Replace manually each file that are into the different folders (do not simply click and drag folders ! Folders "interface" "map" and "SKINS" have folders in them. You also have to manually replace each file, never replace folders.)

- "map" folder : open the map folder and click and drag the file "Terrains type" into the map folder

- "music" folder : suppr the folder "music" in the game and put the "music" folder you downloaded for the mod in the game

- "scenario" folder : suppr the folder "scenario" in the game and put the "scenario" folder you downloaded for the mod in the game

V) Launch the game !
